Herons have a quiet beauty to them —elegant, focused, and always a little otherworldly. In this piece, I leaned into their grace and stillness, painting a heron with expressive blues and purples that mirror the calm of early dawn or fading twilight. The background is a smooth gradient of soft orange, rose, and violet… colors that remind of a sunrise or sunset, depending on how you see it. This painting came together slowly, layer by layer, as I explored contrast and harmony, letting the brushstrokes evoke both movement and peace.
This artwork was part of a group show at Crossroads Art Center in May 2025, and it's one of my favorite pieces from that season: an ode to still waters, shifting skies, and quiet moments in nature.
